Holidays are coming upon us! There is -nothing- I love more than having all the family I can gather home for the holidays. I love cooking big meals, loving hearing the kids play, having a crowded holiday table full of people I love.
All the puppies from the last litter should be at their home by then, hopefully getting a bite or two of turkey from the meal and sitting on someone’s lap or under someone’s feet. Oh, come on, you know you want to spoil them! Why have a puppy if you can’t spoil it? What’s the point?
I’m hoping to concentrate on my writing after they all go home mid month. Well, writing, and then Thanksgiving and then Christmas about two weeks earlier than you all will be because most of the family is off that day …. Since I’m nuts about fall decor, its going to be a fast flip to Christmas decorations and tree up this year.
But oh well. What else am I doing? Oh yeah, writing a Christmas story, due in ten days. NO I’M FINE! (was that convincing? Hope so!) And then have a brand new series coming soon. Oh, and the house and dogs and kids and…deep breath.
If you’ve not seen my work – check it out, please! Pretty please? Sugar on top?
The latest book
One of my favorite quotes of all time:
“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”–Calvin Coolidge
Do you know why? There is always someone more talented than you – me. Always someone who is smarter, who has forty-two letters behind their names. People who were born with natural abilities.
Yet. Does that matter long term? We all know baby ‘geniuses’ who walked, talked, and did everything first. But, walking into kindergarten, no one can tell who started walking at eight months or fourteen months. Who began talking in complete sentences at six months, or three years old. By the time they get to college, no one even cares when they were potty trained. Well, maybe their mom.
Its the long haul that matters, how persistent you can be, you are, how many hours a day, or time you put into reaching your goal.
Me, I spend most of my day in front of my keyboard. But hot damn, this is the dream, and with time and persistence, I will only get better at what I practice doing every day. Writing books.
Cute puppy. Just because.
Like many people in this day and age – and probably for always – I work a few jobs. My goal is to become good enough at this book thing that I don’t have to work three jobs again… ! I like this goal very much. My kids do too!
My other website is Longroadkennel.com and I raise, train and breed Chinese Cresteds and poodles. I also do boarding and go to people’s houses to teach their pups to behave like they should in a family…(yes I’m really training the people, the dogs are easy. Don’t tell Caesar!)
Anyway – I have two new books coming out this month – one on the Blushing website and the other on Amazon and I can’t wait! Okay – poll – how many books before you feel like a ‘real’ writer??
More details as I get them!
Need to figure out how to get this laid out.
